Ingredients
Rice 1 cup
Cumin seeds 1.5 tsp
Green cardamom 4-5
Black cardamom 1-2
Cloves 6-7
Black peppercorn 4-5
Cinnamon stick 1 piece
Bay leaves 2
Frozen or fresh peas 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Oil 1tbsp
Step by step preparation
Soak rice for 30 min. Meanwhile in a pot put oil add all whole spices. When cumin starts to crackle, add peas and salt. Mix and add 1/2 cup water to soften the peas. Then after 5-10 min drain the rice and add in the pot. Mix and add water( if rice is one cup then water should be double the quantity that is 2 cups). Close the lid and adjust the flame to medium- high. After 10 min check the rice and put the pot on a girdle or tawa on low flame. Donot stir it often whole cooking as this can break the grains.
Once ready garnish with fried onions and serve hot.
